Today, in AICE Media Studies, we went outside and took camera movement shots to demonstrate our understanding and ability to capture the shots.
PAN SHOT:
The pan shot was an easy shot to create simply by moving the camera from one subject to another, keeping the camera level. In this shot, I had my characters have a marriage proposal so I could capture strong emotions between the characters. The purpose of this shot is to reveal more of a scene.

TILT SHOT:
In order to create this shot I had to be sitting on the floor so I could be as low to the floor as possible. I tilted my camera upward while still keeping it in the same spot. This shot can be used to show a subject or scene vertically, typically to show a characters outfit.

DOLLY SHOT:
Creating this shot was simple because I just followed behind and alongside my subjects as well as getting closer to them to get the shot. This shot is used to create a sense of intimacy between the viewer and characters by eliminating the distance between them.

TRACKING SHOT:
I had to film this shot multiple times because I was trying to keep a still hand and trying to stay level with my subject at the same time. This shot is used to show a character traveling from one place to another while taking the viewer along too.

BOOM SHOT:
Filming this shot was easy because I had my subjects sit on a table so I didn’t have to film from the floor. In order to film this, I just had to bend my legs and straighten them out keeping my camera straight. The purpose of this shot is to expand the audiences scene perspective.

REVERSE ZOOM:
This shot was the most difficult to film. When filming this I had to go closer to my character giving a zoomed in effect, while also zooming out at the same time. This shot usually give the viewer an uncomplicated or a sense of unease in a scene.

ZOOM SHOT:
Filming this shot was easy, however it took me a few tries. For some reason I kept messing up the zoom. For example, one time I completely forgot to zoom in, or another time I was zoomed in before I began recording. Eventually I got the shot.

HANDHELD SHOT:
When taking this shot, all I had to do was walk toward my subjects allowing my hands to be as instead as possible. This effect gives the scene a more realistic feel as well as allowing the scene to be as chaotic as possible. This shot was easy to film because I didn’t have to worry about my hands shaking.
